William Maley
Mr. Maley (Bill) has been involved in helping people since the 80’s when he first worked as a Lifeguard in the city of Phoenix, AZ. From there after working as an EMT and teaching Basic Athletic Sports Injury Care (BASIC) he attended Phoenix College becoming Valedictory of his Paramedic class. He worked in the City of Scottsdale as a Paramedic and taught Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) until moving to Tucson to attending the University of Arizona. While there he continued working as a Paramedic on the weekends, was on the Dean’s List for 4 semesters and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Returning to Scottdale in the late 80s he worked again worked as a Paramedic becoming Paramedic of the Year. Fresh out of nursing school he worked as a Critical Care Nurse earning a certification in the same and was teaching Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Wanting to expand his Scuba Diving experience he moved to southern California. It was here in the early 90s that he became an Assistant Instructor for Scuba Diving working for Sport Chalet teaching First Aid and CPR. Full time work was taken up by Critical Care again followed by Critical Care Transport. Moving to Aliso Viejo saw Bill gain recognition as a Certified Emergency Nurse working for Mission Hospital for over 2 decades. While there he attended a number of Dive Medicine course 2 of them being a week long each. He used knowledge to present to Paramedics and Nurses. In the 2000s came an opportunity to combine diving and healthcare. He was lead medic for Pacific Offshore Power Boat Racing Association (POPRA). Later he joined WMI Rescue as the Lead Medic, eventually being in charge as the organizer. They provide Dive Rescue Standby for boat and water ski races up to 15 times per year. This included working alongside WMI Global at the annual 3-day hydroplane races.
