Wilderness Medicine & Rescue

The WMI Global Academy Wilderness Medicine and Rescue Program is an advanced, evidence-based curriculum designed for individuals practicing in austere, remote, and event-based environments. Built upon the Advanced Wilderness Life Support (AWLS) framework developed by the University of Utah, this program expands traditional wilderness medicine education into Wilderness Event Medicine.

Our curriculum integrates AWLS principles with updated evidence, field-based experience, and real-world operational considerations. Using AWLS as a starting point, WMI Global Academy adds expanded content, practical context, and expert insight drawn from active practice in remote and event medicine settings. Learners may pursue AWLS certification separately through AWLS Online, where additional open-source learning materials are available.
