Why should I take this course?

Course Description

This course provides healthcare providers and field-of-play responders with evidence-based instruction on the appropriate use of spine boarding for trauma and rescue situations. Participants will review the history and evolution of spinal immobilization, current medical guidelines including NEXUS criteria, and WMI’s perspective on spine boarding as a rescue and transport tool rather than routine immobilization. Emphasis is placed on proper assessment, team-based execution, equipment use, patient safety, and complication prevention to ensure optimal outcomes during emergency transport. Student time during the course is tracked and logged. A quiz will be required at the end of the class; 80% is required to pass. Two attempts are permitted. The course runs on an annual basis. If not completed with the year, access will be blocked.
